Lovers of fine beef and steak, you’ll be delighted to know that we have a new rare breed beef going live on the Market Menu! This week we have rare breed Belted Galloway. It will be ready to tuck into on our Market Menu by the weekend.
The Belted Galloway is a heritage breed of beef cattle originating from Galloway cattle on the west side of southern Scotland. They are perfectly suited to turning rough hill pasture into the finest quality meat. To ensure winter warmth on the poor upland pastures and windswept moorlands of the region, the Beltie has a double coat of hair rather than the layer of backfat most other breeds require. Their meat is therefore especially lean and succulent. Grass fed Belted Galloways also produce slowly matured marbled meat high in Omega 3. It’s widely recognised as one of the best tasting and healthier meats. Sustainably produced beef of this kind, though hard to source, is growing in popularity and we’re proud to be one of the few restaurants to be bringing it to our diners.
Our rare breed Belted Galloway is currently finishing off in our Himalayan salt dry ager and has so far been aged for a total of 35 days. It will be available to tuck into on the Anderson’s Market Menu from Friday 6th July for a limited time only.
